THERE WITH CARE an organization that assists families in need won SoulSong's raffle this year at the Boulder Creek Fair. The basket of goodies included several "Special Companion Guardian Angel Dolls", My Guardian Angel books, The Angels Among Us journals and other wonderful soul nourishing items for the families that There With Care assists. We hope that the angelic theme will offer comfort and support for the families selected to receive these items.

SoulSong Enterprises' SSEGO Foundation has Successful Trip to Costa Rica & Panama. Enjoy Our Picture Journey

In April SSEGO visited 3 of the communities that we assist in cottage industry development. Additional sewing skills were shared, new project ideas expressed, needed materials were delivered and continued community needs were assessed. Friendships were deepened and local and non local relationships broadened. All of the communities expressed tremendous gratitude for SSEGO'S assistance and to all "the wonderful people" world wide who purchase their "Special Companion Guardian Angel Dolls". Each community expressed their hopes, optimism and commitment to creating positive change in the quality of their lives and their children lives.

The following photos are of the La Carpio community outside of San Jose, Costa Rica. They live in tin shanties and do the best they can to care for their children. Below you will see a typical La Carpio neighborhood and home. Currently there are over 20 women perfecting their doll making and seamstress skills. This number is rapidly growing. Please view the doll page on the website for additional information about each of the communities.

The Following are photos of some of the Cabecar mothers, children and teens. The Cabecar Indiginous live far back in the mountains and across a wide river from the community meeting center. They walked 1.5 to 2 miles to spend time with us and show us their new bark sculptures. Once used for clothing, hammocks and other functional community items the Cabecar are now making bark cloth angels exclusively for SoulSong available through our website, SoulSong Gatherings and artisan fairs. Other whimsical bark sculptures are available at SoulSong Gatherings(see website "Gathering" page). The Cabecar still speak only their native indigenous language and one community elder who also speaks Spanish translated for us. The children are now learning Spanish, the predominant language of Central America.

The following photos are of Bahia Honda off the coast of Panama and the home of the Ngobe women and their families. The women learned additional sewing skills for the Guardian Angel Special Companion dolls. The women received their new treadle sewing machines.

SSEGO VISITS COSTA RICA & PANAMA

I will be out of the country April 3rd-24th. This year I am traveling back to Costa Rica and Panama to continue my work with the La Carpio Community and Cabecar Indigenous women of Costa Rica. I will also be visiting the Ngobe community of women and their families on their spectacular island off the mainland coast of Panama. This year SSEGO will be supplying the Ngobe women with additional sewing machines and supplies that are very much needed. These new machines will enable the women to continue their sewing projects and increase their ability to make even more of their remarkable 'Special Companion Guardian Angel Dolls'. With the assistance of Henry and Margaret, who live within boating distance from the Ngobe community (who are accessible only by small boat), it has been arranged to have the sewing machines delivered directly to the Nobe community from Panama City. This is no small deed. Margaret and Henry own and operate the La Loma butterfly farm & jungle lodge and are the established local support team for this indigenous community.

I will also be taking a local Boulder early childhood teacher, Cheryl Stegman and her 12 year old daughter Heather Rose this year to meet the communities of women. This will be an incredible experience for them both. Colocha and Annegret, two of SSEGO's multilingual translators will also be venturing with us.

We invite you to help spread the vision of SoulSong by hosting a SoulSong gathering at your house, church, school, office or in your community. The purpose of the gathering is to share the stories of the women who create the dolls for the Doll Project and to ultimately sell some of the dolls. These dolls are perfect as a gift or as a donation to a worthy cause. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of the dolls goes back to support these women and their communities.

There are many things that we can do to positively affect a global sense of hopelessness, bordering on despair for some individuals.
We look forward to expanding our community skills development program locally and globally. We also look forward to creating greater consistency of product orders for the wonderful communities of women SSEGO currently works with, as well as responding to invitation support requests from other countries. Alas! SoulSong now has a blog set up so that we can keep you abreast of new developments and achievements. We are so very grateful to Adam Johnson of Boulder, Colorado for devoting his valuable time and talent to help us update the website and set up this very important communication tool.

Many of us are not afforded the opportunity to travel and meet some of the wonderful communities of brothers and sisters that live in often remote areas of the globe. I have been very blessed through my efforts on behalf of SoulSong to have had this great opportunity. I am excited to be able to share some of these experiences and information with all of you and in so doing offer ways in which you can help "share your love" through our outreach.
